Sharing Fair Memories

“I wouldn’t miss this show for quids. I had my first kiss here, too many years ago to admit!”

“I remember when the Fair started on Friday night and ran all day Saturday and we used to throw apples at our teachers on the dunking machine”

“I paid to have my photo taken with a Claremont Footy player in 1965. It’s rather sad to admit that it was one of the most exciting days of my life – I’ve still got the photo to prove it.”

“How could I miss this Fair? I met my future husband at the Fair – in 1959”

These are just a few of the comments that are heard every Autumn as thousands of people stream into Claremont Park to the Rotary Claremont Lifestyle Fair.

The Fair has changed over the years but most Fair-goers enjoy the occasional surprise (such as the gourmet food and wine and recently added Pet Show) while anticipating the timeless favourites such as the huge second-hand book stall.

Do you have memories or photographs about the Fair that you would be willing to share? Organisers would like to hear from you and will be mounting a display of photographs and selected memories at the Fair as well as in a Memories page on the Rotary Club’s Fair website www.claremontfair.com.au
